Fan sounds for sleep and baby: listen first, then pick

A running fan is the original sleep machine: steady airflow noise that masks traffic, neighbours and the creaks of a house at night. A phone can't move air — if you need ventilation or cooling you still need a real fan — but it can reproduce the sound of one, and that is often what people actually miss when they travel.

Try it now

A taste of the live-generated sounds — the app has 24, with a mixer and a sleep timer. Start low: this plays through your device speaker.

Volume no louder than a quiet conversation. Estimate based on the sound and your device volume. Dozefan is not a medical device.

Four fans, four characters

Why it sounds like a real fan

Dozefan doesn't loop a recording. It synthesises the noise of the airflow and the motor live, with slow natural variation, so there is no repeating loop and no click to notice at 3 a.m. A Muffle slider lets you make it sound like the fan is in the next room. The player above is a simplified browser version of the same idea; the app has more depth, 24 sounds in all.

Make it a routine

Pick a fan, set a timer (the default is 45 minutes with a 2-minute fade) and keep the volume low. For babies, read the safe-volume guide, try the safe-distance calculator and see fan sounds for baby sleep.
